Baseball Falls In Weekend Finale At Grambling State

GRAMBLING, La. – Grambling State jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated TSU 9-4 in the finale of its three-game series on Sunday.
 
GSU led 2-0 after the second inning before TSU scored as Alexander Olivo recorded a sac fly in the third to score CJ Castillo for a 2-1 margin. GSU would break the game open with seven runs over the next five innings to lead 9-1 before TSU would score again as CJ Castillo singled home two runners for a 9-3 margin in the ninth. Olivo drove in TSU's final run with an RBI single to score Castillo.
 
Castillo finished 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBU while Daalen Adderley and Roderick Coffee both had two hits. Olivo also tied for the team lead in RBI with two.
 
TSU is back in action on Tuesday for the second annual Buck O' Neil Classic in Kansas City against the University of Kansas at 6 p.m. Kansas will wear its uniforms designed after the Kansas City Monarchs, while Texas Southern will wear replica uniforms of the Homestead Grays.
