Tigers Drop Weekend Finale To Southern

Southern scored nine runs between the fourth and sixth innings to capture the weekend series against Texas Southern on Sunday.
 
The Jaguars led the game off with a single and homered four batters later for an early 2-0 lead. TSU cut the lead in half in the bottom frame as Chase Cromer scored on Daalen Adderley's RBI single.
 
TSU committed a costly error with one out in the second as the runner moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI double for a 3-1 deficit. SU added another run in the fourth before breaking the game open in the fifth with five runs to lead 9-1. SU added four more runs in the sixth to lead 13-1 before a CJ Castillo single in the sixth gave TSU its second and final run of the day.
 
Castillo, Adderley and Alexander Olivo all had two hits while Josiah Castro was tagged with the loss on the mound.
 
TSU is back in action next Friday against Prairie View A&M for a 3 p.m. start.
