• Texas Southern is back in NCAA Tournament play for the second straight year and fourth time in six seasons as they'll face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tuesday evening in Dayton, Ohio for the First Four Round at 5:40 p.m. (CST) on truTV.
• TSU has won seven of its past eight games entering NCAA Tournament play. The Tigers are participating in their third straight First Four as they defeated North Carolina Central and Mount St. Mary's in the 2018 and 2021 First Four games. TSU has participated in a postseason tourney for eight straight years (2014-22)
• Head coach Johnny Jones hit a career milestone late in 2021 with his 350th career win after the SWAC Tournament semifinal win on March 12.
• Despite both teams located four hours from each other, this marks only the fourth meeting all-time between both teams and first since 2007.
• This marks the fourth year for TSU head coach Johnny Jones. TSU is making its third consecutive postseason under Jones and second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Jones went 24-14 in his inaugural year as head coach with three Power 5 conference wins. TSU fell in the finals of the 2019 SWAC Tournament and advanced to the semifinals of the CIT in 2019. In 2019-20, the Tigers made it back to the semifinals of the SWAC Tournament after a third-place regular season finish but saw the season end abruptly due to COVID-19. TSU won the SWAC Tournament and First Four contest in 2021
• TSU is 2-9 all-time in NCAA Tournament contests and 2-1 in First Four/Opening Round contests (2021/2018/2003).
• TSU faced off against teams from seven conferences in 2021-22. TSU squared off against teams from the Pac-12 (2), WCC (2), Mountain West, ACC, Conference USA, SEC and WAC.
• TSU is coming off an impressive SWAC Tournament as they claimed the title in a dom- inant fashion over top-seeded Alcorn State. TSU will carry the banner for the SWAC in the tournament as the league is 3-8 all-time in First Four/Opening Round games. TSU has the two of the SWAC's three opening round wins as Arkansas-Pine Bluff also claimed a win in 2010.
• Jones is 50-32 all-time in the month of March and 21-6 at TSU.
• TSU was picked to finish first by the Southwestern Athletic Conference and finished second overall but surprisingly had no player earn All-SWAC honors.
