Box Score TSU tied for its best shooting performance of the season as they took control early in the first half and never looked back in an 81-66 win over Jackson State on Saturday.

The Tigers came out inspired from the opening tip as JSU would score five quick points but TSU answered with a 20-4 run. During the run, TSU's defense held JSU to 1-of-11 shooting from the field while the Tigers were red hot as Bryson Etienne led the Tigers with eight followed by six from Justin Hopkins.

The contest would slow down as JSU would draw within 31-19 with 6:36 left. However, the damage was minimal as TSU nearly matched JSU's production with nine points on 4-of-5 shooting. The Tigers would continue to remain red hot from the field as the half closed as they finished the first half shooting 64 percent en route to a 42-27 halftime lead.

Unlike Monday's contest at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, TSU took care of business early in the second half as a 15-5 run upped the lead to 57-32. TSU was never threatened the remainder of the half despite a late surge in JSU's offense.

P.J. Henry led TSU with 14 points followed by 13 from Etienne. Karl Nicholas grabbed 10 rebounds while Yahuza Rasas had seven rebounds.

TSU is set for a huge showdown against Alcorn State Monday night inside the H&PE Arena at 7:30 p.m.
