Texas Southern returned to the winner's column in style with a dominant 3-0 win over Alcorn State Sunday afternoon inside the H&PE Arena.

TSU jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the opening set but ASU rallied back and drew to within 13-12 before TSU went on a flurry and won set one 25-13 after a 12-1 run.

The Tigers kept up the intensity to begin set two with four straight points but Alcorn State came back and led 9-8 before three straight points from TSU to lead 11-9. Both teams were tied at 14-all again but TSU scored four straight after four ASU errors to lead 18-14. The Braves countered with three straight to draw within 18-17 but Thalia Cordero Moreno and Jada Hall combined for a pair of kills to spark a 4-0 run and a 22-17 TSU lead. ASU would narrow the gap to 23-20 but TSU closed the match with a Cordero Moreno kill and Hall ace to win 25-20.

Ahead 9-6 in the final set, TSU broke the match open with a 6-0 run and extended its lead to 19-9. ASU countered with three straight but TSU responded with team effort and rolled off five straight to lead 24-12. Freshman Chenise Cook put the icing on the cake with a kill to end the match.

Cordero Moreno led TSU with eight kills and seven digs followed by seven from Cook. Janiya Chapman and Cook both had two assisted blocks.

TSU closes out its home schedule tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. against Southern for senior night as they'll honor a trio of seniors in Erianna Murray, Jada Hall and Aeris Ramsey.
