Jones Named Chair of SWAC Men's Basketball Coaches

Texas Southern head men's basketball coach Johnny Jones has been named Chair of the Southwestern Athletic Conference men's basketball coaches.

Jones' role will span two years as he'll serve as the liaison to the SWAC Office and other conference committees on all issues pertaining to men's basketball. He will also provide feedback to the league's presidents/chancellors and various administrators as the position calls for him to research and collect data from the league's head coaches and other sources when it comes to spearheading various initiatives to be voted on or discussed.
  
The fourth-year head coach is coming off his most successful season at Texas Southern as he led the Tigers to their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance and ninth SWAC Tournament Championship in 2021 despite having to deal with the uncharted waters of COVID-19. Jones won his 350^th career contest late last season and led TSU to its second NCAA Tournament win in program history in March.
