HOUSTON- Texas Southern head football coach Michael Haywood participated in the Weekly SWAC Teleconference on Monday as well as the TSU Football Show with Lary "Chattabox" Hale on Tuesday.

On 27-15 loss at Alcorn State
"We had mental breakdowns across the field. We played better, but we're not playing up to our ability and we have to get a lot better over the next week."
 
On the Tigers next opponent the University of Houston after loss at Texas Tech
"I think that Major is an outstanding coach. We worked together at the University of Texas. I'm sure that was surprising the outcome of that game because it was surprising to me as well. But I think that they will rebound and play a really good game because they are a well coached football team."
 
On UH defensive lineman Ed Oliver
"Well first of all when I was at LSU, we had Boogie McFarland who was a first round pick at nose guard and he might have been the 16th pick in the draft. Ed Oliver, I've been watching him over the years, I watched him on the tape this morning. He's really exciting I think. One thing that separates him from people in the country in the last 29 years that I've seen is his intensity. He has unbelievable intensity and motor that never stops. You watch Texas Tech putting two guys on him trying to block him and he still keeps coming and he eventually gets to the quarterback later. He's an outstanding player and I understand why he'll be one of the top five guys selected in the draft."
