BATON ROUGE, La. - After jumping out to a lead and effectively putting a scare in one of the top teams in the country Texas Southern was not be able to keep pace with #2 LSU in a back and forth contest, as the Tigers fell 15-7 in the NCAA regional round on Friday.
Texas Southern would take an early lead in the first inning. Â With the bases loaded, Christian Sanchez singled to the shortstop, and would reach base on a fielding error and Kamren Dukes would score, which gave TSU the 2-0 lead.
Texas Southern would add to its lead in the top of the second. Â Jose Camacho would single up the middle, and advance on a throwing error, allowing a run to score to extend TSU's lead to 3-0. Â
LSU added four runs in the bottom of the frame, and one run in the third to take a 5-3 lead.
Texas Southern would reclaim the lead in the top of the fifth.  With runners on first and second, Gaudencio Lucca hit an RBI single to make the score 5-4.  After bringing the game to a tie at 5-5, Horace LeBlanc hit an RBI single to cap off the four run inning, to make the score 7-5.
LSU scored four runs of its own in the bottom of the inning to re-claim a two run lead, 9-7. Â
TSU did not score another run in the contest, leading to the 15-7 loss.
Texas Southern was paced by Camacho, who went three-for-four with two runs scored and one RBI in the defeat.
