Tigers comeback to beat UAPB on the road

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Zach Lofton led all scorers with 24 points as the Texas Southern Tigers won their sixth straight league contest with a 70-63 victory over the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Jalan McCloud tallied 15 points while Demontrae Jefferson pitched in 10 points to help pace TSU's scoring attack.

Texas Southern trailed the Golden Lions by three points at the half (29-26). TSU outscored UAPB 44-34 in the second half. Texas Southern shot 47 percent from the field while limiting UAPB to just 37 percent.

A pair of Kevin Scott free throws with 21 seconds left in regulation pushed the Tigers lead to nine points (70-61) and gave Texas Southern its largest advantage of the contest.

Texas Southern travels to face Mississippi Valley State on Monday on the road in a game that will be televised live on ESPNU at 8:00 pm.
