TSU Soccer gets shutout win over St. Thomas

HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Lady Tigers soccer team came away with a hard fought 1-0 victory on Sunday over St. Thomas at the Houston Sports Park.

"It was great to get our second win of the season and keep the shutout," said TSU head coach Kathryn Saunders. "St. Thomas always brings a tough and physical match which I felt our girls responded well to.  These pre conference games are meant to prepare us for SWAC play and I feel there is a lot we can take from this match and build on.  Our next few games are going to be big challenges and we are excited to dive into our perpetration this week for TCU next Sunday." 
 
After the first 45 minutes of action the two teams went into intermission tied at 0-0.

Texas Southern started the second stanza in attack mode and the Lady Tigers were rewarded for their aggressiveness. A foul inside the box awarded TSU's Paige Hayward a penalty kick.

Hayward converted the opportunity giving her team a 1-0 advantage that they would not relinquish.

TSU will travel this weekend to Fort Worth to face TCU.
