Tigers drop 17-3 decision on the road at SFA

Box Score NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin defeated Texas Southern 17-3 on Tuesday at Jaycees Field.

Texas Southern scattered 10 hits, picking up a single run in the fifth on a Ryan Lazo solo home run.

The Tigers added two more runs in the eighth inning as Chris Scroggins and Oloruntimile picked up RBI in the frame.

Stephen F. Austin posted six runs in the second, five in the sixth and eighth innings and a solo run in the seventh on 12 hits, 11 walks and four errors. Kyle Thornell and Brandon Smith both tallied two hits and four RBI, as Trevor Podsednik and Matthew Dickey chipped in two hits.

TSU starter Aaron Mcintyre (0-2) gave up six runs on two hits, five walks and one strike out over one and a third of inning in the loss.

SFA hurler Cole Ridgely (2-2) allowed one run over six hits, struck out two and walked one over six innings of action to get the win.
