HOUSTON, Texas – Huston-Tillotson and Texas Southern split their Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at MacGregor Park.
In the first game, Huston-Tillotson posted six runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh as they had success against Texas Southern starter Gabriel Gomez. Gomez gave up seven runs (one earned) on eight hits, struck out six and walked three in the loss.
HT's Schulze threw six innings to get the win, scattering two runs on four hits while walking six and striking out five.
The Tigers woke up offensively in the second game, as Kamern Dukes opened the first inning with a solo blast. In the sixth inning, Gerreck Jimenez and Chris Scroggins both legged out RBI triples helping the Tigers to post seven runs in the inning to retake the lead, 9-3.
TSU starter Ryan Hawkins picked up the win, scattering five runs on 10 hits while striking out five, walking one and hitting two.
HT's Mendieta went three innings in the loss, giving up two runs on one hit, walking five and striking out one.Â
