HOUSTON- Texas Southern University Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Charles McClelland has announced that the TSU Athletics Program has reached an agreement with Root Sports to have five of the Tigers football games this season broadcast live.

The announcement was made at the Labor Day Classic press conference by Root Sports general manager David Peart.

"I can't put into words the magnitude of this deal," said McClelland. "To have the ability to have our football games viewed in over five different states on one of the top carriers of sports programming in the country is something that is truly historic for our institution and this football program. We look forward to this partnership with Root Sports as we look to further enhance the visibility of our brand on a local, regional, and national level."

Fans can tune into all of the action this season as Butch Alsandor returns to the booth to handle play by play duties. Joining Alsandor inside the booth this season will be former Houston Oiler John Henry Mills with Nick Strong roaming the sidelines.

The first broadcast of the season is slated for Saturday, September 5
th at 8:00 pm as the Tigers of Texas Southern host Prairie View A&M at BBVA Compass Stadium. Ā Ā Ā Ā
