HOUSTON – Texas Southern concluded its non-conference three-game series versus Jackson State on Saturday winning in impressive fashion over the Tigers in front of an energetic home crowd.Â
TSU (4-3) out hit Jackson State (4-4) en route to its 7-3 win.Â
Texas Southern was led by Robert Garza offensively. The shortstop went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI in the win.Â
Zach Welz, Jerry Ford II, and Javier Valdez recorded two hits each as Texas Southern stayed in control of the contest from start to finish.Â
"I really like the way this team is playing right now," said TSU head coach Michael Robertson. "We have several guys in our line-up that have been hitting the ball extremely well and our pitching staff has done a great job in giving us the opportunities to win games."
On the mound Rios Ryan earned the win while striking out five batters and allowing just three earned runs in five innings of work.
