JACKSON, Miss.- Malcolm Riley scored 19 points and 15 rebounds as Texas Southern came from behind to beat Jackson State 71-70 in overtime on Monday night.
Riley connected on a three point jumper with 1:22 left in the extra period to give Texas Southern a 69-68 lead. JSU answered with a layup to go out front 70-69 with 31 seconds remaining.
TSU's Madarious Gibbs missed a layup but Jason Carter came away with the rebound and was fouled. Carter left the game with an injured elbow. Chris Thomas was selected to shoot the free throws and he made both to help TSU claim the win.
David Blanks had 16 points and Gibbs added 15 for Texas Southern. Gibbs also made two free throws with eight seconds left in regulation to send the contest into overtime.
