HOUSTON- Houston Baptist defeated Texas Southern 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-11) on Tuesday at Sharp Gymn. Texas Southern falls to 9-17 on the season while Houston Baptist moves to 13-12.
The Texas Southern offense was led by Kali Fluke's eight kills, one solo block and two block assists while Taylor Dickerson chipped in seven kills and three block assists.
Robyn Shannon tallied six kills, three digs and one block. Asia Howard dished out 14 assists, six digs and one dig while Chelsea Thompson had 12 helpers and one dig. Allison Woods collected eight digs in the contest. Texas Southern posted a .167 (26 kills, 12 errors, 84 attempts) hitting percentage.
Houston Baptist was paced by Allison Doerpinghaus' 13 kills and one block while Jessica Wooten tallied 12 putaways, 13 digs and two assists. Sophie Zielinski chipped in 11 kills, two digs and one block.
Kayla Armer dished out 48 assists, three digs, four kills, one service ace and one block. Melissa Fuchs collected eight digs and one assist in the match. Houston Baptist tallied a .349 (54 kills, 16 errors, 109 attempts) hitting percentage.
Texas Southern returns to the court on Nov. 3 to take on Huston-Tillotson for a 6:00 p.m. match-up.
