NORFOLK, Va.- Norfolk State defeated Texas Southern 76-66 on Saturday.
A jump shot by LaTre'e Russell gave Norfolk State (2-2) a 9-7 lead and the Spartans never trailed again.
Texas Southern (0-4) tied the contest at 49 when Chris Thomas made a layup with 13:23 left but, 9 seconds later Kievyn Lila-St. Rose hit a 3-pointer that sparked a 19-6 Norfolk State run.
The Tigers would get no closer than nine the rest of the way.
Chris Thomas scored a career-high 28 for Texas Southern.
