Tamara Torru is in her first year coaching at Texas Southern University. Previously she had worked for two years as the Director of Operations and Graduate Assistant for TSU.

Born and raised in Houston Texas, Torru played four years of collegiate basketball at The University of North Texas.  Where she lead the team in rebounds and started every game her senior year. She ultimately finished her career second-team all-conference and as the team’s Most Valuable Player for the 20011-2012 season.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Development and Family Studies from The University of North Texas as well as a Master’s degree in Health from Texas Southern University.
