Samantha Gonzalez joined the Texas Southern softball program during the summer of 2013. She brings with her valuable head coaching experience and knowledge of the game.
Prior to arriving to TSU she served as the head softball coach at Huston-Tillotson in Austin, Texas. While at HT her teams saw two top five finishes in 2010 as they competed well during the regular season and at tournament play. Gonzalez initially helped start the softball program at Huston-Tillotson in 2009.
In addition to over 13 years of playing softball, Gonzalez has also been an assistant coach to several leagues as well as tournament teams. During the 2009 season, she was a student assistant coach of the JV program at Sterling College.
In the summers of 2007 and 2008 she expanded her career resume as she umpired both softball and baseball games. She also helped support her local community by providing pitching lessons for young girls from ages eight through the college level free of charge.
During her time in the coaching profession she has been able to participate in several softball clinics sharing her knowledge and experience in pitching, batting and fielding. Besides being an innovative student-athlete and a coach Gonzalez also has five years of experience in recruiting and event operations.
