Garrett Cox joined the Texas Southern football program as a grad assistant coach in 2010.  In 2011, he was promoted to linebackers coach.

Cox came to TSU after serving as the linebackers coach at Fort Scott Community College in 2009.  Before Fort Scott CC, Cox was an administrative assistant for the linebacker coaches at Auburn University.  He was also an assistant linebackers coach for the Buford High School Varsity football team in Georgia in 2008.

Cox worked for football programs at Georgia Southern University (video coordinator 2007) and the University of Georgia (student assistant for the defensive staff 2006).

Cox earned a degree in Education from the University of Georgia.
