Wilson Throws No-Hitter, Softball Sweeps Alcorn State In Road Battle

LORMAN, Miss. – TSU swept its road doubleheader at Alcorn State on Friday afternoon on the ASU campus.

TSU 9, ALCORN STATE 4
TSU overcame a three-run deficit to claim game one 9-4
The Braves took advantage of two TSU errors in the bottom of the first to claim an early 3-0 lead. TSU quickly bounced back in the second and cut the lead to 3-2 as Jade McQueen scored on a wild pitch followed by Kyle Wilson's RBI bunt single. Karisma Garcia's RBI single in the third knotted the contest at 3-all and TSU kept the pressure on with a four-run fifth aided by an ASU throwing error. ASU added a run to get within 7-4 in the sixth but TSU put the game out of reach in the seventh as Jordyn Talbert's RBI triple scored Kiersten Salinas followed by Wilson's sac fly to bring home Talbert.

DaNia Durr and Talbert both had two hits while Wilson drove in two RBI. Zaria Turner went the distance for the win on the mound.

TSU 1, ALCORN STATE 0
Kylie Wilson threw a no-hitter as TSU won a pitching battle 1-0.

Marisa Perla led the third off with a walk and moved over to second after Wilson's bunt single. Katelynn Cooper drove in Perla on a sac fly for the 1-0 lead.
From there it was all Wilson on defense as the sophomore kept ASU's bats in checks. Outside of a walk, fielding error and a fielder's choice, no other Brave would reach base the remainder of the game.
Wilson and Lanay Carr both had two hits while Wilson struck out two for the no-hit win.

The series wraps up at noon on Saturday.
