Softball Falls At Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 10-run second run inning was the difference as TSU dropped a midweek decision at Lamar on Wednesday.
 
TSU's Marisa Perla had a one-out single to open the first but couldn't capitalize. Lamar scored a run in the first for a 1-0 lead but TSU had an opportunity to tie it in the second as Destiny Menchaca drew a leadoff walk and moved to second after Madison Battle's sac bunt. Lanay Carr's single moved Menchaca to third but TSU would leave a pair of runners in scoring position after two straight outs.
 
Lamar would score six runs in the bottom of the second before TSU would record its first out. By the time the dust settled, Lamar had an 11-0 lead in which would ultimately be the final margin.
 
Carr and Perla both had hits for TSU while Perla was tagged with the loss on the mound.
 
TSU is back in action on Friday for its home and SWAC opener against Alcorn State at 3 p.m. inside Memorial Park.
