PONCE, PUERTO RICO – The Texas Southern Men's Golf Team finished in third place after posting a total of 896 (299 – 300 - 297) at the ASU Hornet Invitational hosted by Alabama State University on Wednesday.
Freshman Yashal Shah was the top scorer for the Tigers as he finished in second place overall with a 2-under-par total of 214 (70 -72 – 72). Shah was the overnight leader after his 2-under-par opening rounds of 142 (70 – 72). His final round consisted of four birdies, 11 pars, two bogeys, and a double carding an even-par 72 to conclude the tournament.
Freshman Bradley Lavinier posted a 1-under-par final round of 71 giving him a 10-over-par 226 (75 – 80 – 71) as she tied for seventh with senior Kci Lindskog on a 228 (78 – 73 - 75). Ricardo Pham carded a two-day total of 234 (78 – 75 – 81) while Tristan Garrett was two strokes back on 236 (76 – 80 - 79).
The Hornet Invitational was hosted at the Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club with a 54-hole tournament format over two days.
The Tigers return to action March 24-25 as they compete in the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational in Napa Valley, Calif. at Silverado Country Club & Resort.
