Softball Drops Midweek Contest To UIW

A sixth-run seventh inning by Incarnate Word broke open a tight game as TSU softball fell 11-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Park.
 
UIW scored a pair of runs with two outs in the first to lead 2-0 but TSU answered in the bottom half as Karisma Garcia's sac fly scored Kylee Wilson. UIW once again struck with two outs in the fourth with a two-run homer to lead 4-1 but TSU fought back and closed the gap to 4-3 in the fifth on Garcia's two-run homer. TSU had two runners on after the homer with two outs but a strikeout ended the threat.
 
UIW broke the game open with seven runs in the sixth as TSU used three pitchers. TSU had a 1-2-3 bottom half as the game came to a close.
 
Wilson and Destiny Menchaca both had two hits while Garcia had three RBI. Marisa Perla fell to 0-1 on the season on the mound.
 
TSU is back in action on Friday at Prairie View A&M for a 3 p.m. start.
