Blazing Lady Tigers: Texas Southern Roars to Victory Over Florida A&M

The Lady Tigers showed no signs of fatigue tonight as they secured another win, over Florida A&M, 77-70, extending the streak to an impressive 11-0 record in the SWAC. They work together seamlessly, pushing the ball up the floor with multiple passes. Treasure Thompson's steal led to a fast break, with Aylasia Fantroy passing down to Deivejon Harris, who took more shots than usual. At the end of the first quarter, Texas Southern trailed by just one point, 17-18. Both teams displayed strong defensive efforts and competitive play. Texas Southern's Deivejon Harris and Tiana Mathis were key players, contributing with rebounds and points. Harris had 4 points and 3 rebounds, while Mathis added 6 points and 2 rebounds. The quarter saw multiple turnovers and missed shots, but Texas Southern managed to edge ahead slightly by capitalizing on free throws and layups, setting the stage for an exciting game.

In the second quarter, Texas Southern maintained their lead over Florida A&M with strong defensive plays and effective scoring. The Lady Tigers' energy and teamwork were evident as they stretched their lead, with Thompson adding 10 points and 7 rebounds by the end of the third quarter.

In the final quarter, Texas Southern demonstrated resilience and strategic play to secure their victory over Florida A&M. Tiana Mathis was instrumental, sinking crucial free throws that extended their lead, finishing with 10 points and 3 rebounds. Aaliyah Henderson also stepped up, contributing significantly with 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Treasure Thompson's consistent scoring and defensive rebounds helped maintain their advantage, ending with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Despite Florida A&M's efforts to close the gap, Texas Southern's defense held firm. The team's ability to capitalize on free throws and maintain composure under pressure was key to their 77-70 win.
