SAVANNAH, Ga. – Niya Mitchell scored 15 points as a tough Texas Southern defensive effort limited Savannah State to a 24.1 percent shooting night (14-of-58) during a 65-41 Lady Tigers road victory on Friday.
Isis Lane was a point shy of a double-double for Texas Southern as she tallied 9 points, 10 rebounds, while rejecting three shot attempts. Bre'nae Andrews would add nine points for the Lady Tigers off the bench.
Tied 27-27 at intermission, TSU pulled away with a dominating third quarter. Texas Southern outscored Savannah State 19-4 in the frame and dominated from there, leading by as many as 26 in the games' final stanza.
Texas Southern outrebounded SSU 51-33 and shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the floor. Robbi Allen led Savannah State with 12 points.
