GRAMBLING, La. – Jackson State prevailed in a pitcher's duel 1-0 versus SWAC Western Division leader Texas Southern in a neutral site make-up conference game.
TSU starting pitcher only allowed JSU to pick up one hit – a single in the first that was mishandled and eventually allowed them to score. TSU picked up five hits but stranded seven runners.Â
Texas Southern had two runners on in the fourth but were unable to cash in, and in the seventh, a Brianna Simpson (2-for-3) triple was squandered when Domonique Tello flied out to end the game.
Krystalani Yockman also had two hits. Rodriguez (4-7) received the loss, striking out eight and issuing three walks in 6.0 innings.
