Lady Tigers get back to winning ways

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Keiana Vines scored a game-high 24 points in the 57-38 win over Alabama A&M Monday night at Elmore Gymnasium.

Vines went 10-for-14 in shooting, including going perfect at the free throw line (4-of-4) as she also grabbed nine boards. Brianna Sidney also hit double figures in scoring for the Lady Tigers with 18 points. Toni Cheadle registered nine points and eight rebounds, going 4-for-7 in shooting.

Overall, TSU collected a shooting percentage of 46.8 percent and went 9-for-14 from the line. The Lady Tigers forced 10 turnovers, two less than it committed, and grabbed five more rebounds (32) than the Lady Bulldogs who claimed 27 rebounds.

AAMU players were kept from hitting double digits as the highest scorer was Jaylan Snowden who earned nine points. Janie Myles put up eight points and seven rebounds, while Deborah Martin managed a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled in the field, as TSU held them to shooting 31.9 percent.

During the game, AAMU held the lead twice. The scoring gap remained close throughout the first two quarters, the second ending 20-18. But, the Lady Tigers pulled ahead in the third and would end the game with a 19-point advantage.
