DECATUR, Ala. – Texas Southern is off to a solid start at the 2015 SWAC Softball Tournament after defeating Alabama A&M University in a 4-3 decision Wednesday afternoon at Wilson Morgan Park.
The Lady Tigers registered two runs in the first inning with scores from Jessica Miller and Thomasina Garza.
TSU added another run in the third before AAMU battled back to tie the game 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning.
This pushed the game into extra innings, as the contest would subsequently end in the ninth frame as TSU's Brianna Simpson used a squeezed bunt to bring in the Lady Tiger's winning run at 4-3.
A total of three Lady Tigers saw action inside the circle, tossing 11 strikeouts and allowing zero walks.
Simpson contributed a game-high two runs, while Texas Southern's Brianna Parker led her team with a game-high two RBI. Â
