Pauline Banks

Pauline Banks has established herself as one of the top coaches in the Southwestern Athletic Conference during her stints serving as head coach in the league.

In 2014 Banks led Texas Southern to a second place finish at the 2014 SWAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Banks spent six years at Jackson State University as women’s cross country and track and field coach. She became one of the most respected coaches in the Southwestern Athletic Conference after winning conference indoor and outdoor titles in 2008 and the outdoor championship in 2009.

Prior to Jackson State, Banks spent 10 years stint at Mississippi Valley State University. There she served in several capacities, including head track and field coach and Senior Women’s Administrator.

Banks got her start in collegiate athletics as a graduate assistant at Grambling State University in 1991. She served in that capacity for two years as well as serving as an instructor with the National Youth Sports Program. In 1993, she served as an assistant track and field coach at Mississippi Valley State. Banks was promoted to the Delta Devils head coach position in 1996. She was head coach of the women’s track and field program before adding the men’s program to her duties in 1997. She also taught K-5 graders at Alma J. Brown Elementary School in Grambling, La., in 1991.

Banks has a son, Tommie. She is a member of the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, USA Track and Field and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
