Bahamas native George Cleare began working with Texas Southern University Men’s Track and Field in 2018.  

Cleare brings a wealth of national and international coaching experience, and will be assisting with the sprints, hurdles and relays.

Cleare came to Texas Southern University after serving as the 2016 Olympic Head Coach for the Bahamas, and before that he spent five years working at the University of Georgia.

During his time at Georgia Cleare coached one National Champion, seven first team All-Americans and seven-second team All-Americans. Cleare also coached two South Eastern Conference Champions and helped the Bulldogs Women’s team to an NCAA Indoor 3rd place team finish and NCAA Outdoor Track and Field 5thplace finish in 2014 as well as 3rd place Indoor Track and Field and a 5thplace Outdoor Track and Field finish in 2015.

He also was a part of the Georgia men’s 2014 NCAA 6thplace Outdoor Track and Field team finish. Coach Cleare has coached seven Olympians and eight World Championship qualifiers producing two Olympic medals and three medalists at the World Championships.

Cleare has served as World Championship Head Coach in 2013 as well as World Championship National Relay Coordinator in 2009 coaching the Women’s 4x100m that won a silver medal. At the Rio Olympics Cleare coached the Bahamas Men’s 4x400m relay team to a bronze medal finish.
