COMMERCE, Texas - The TSU softball team opens the 2026 season at the annual East Texas A&M Leadoff in Commerce, Texas Friday through Sunday.
This marks the third consecutive year TSU will open the season in Commerce as the event features a variety of programs from across the country. TSU opens against South Dakota State at 9 a.m. Friday followed by an 11:15 a.m. contest against Bucknell. The team is back in action at 9 a.m. Saturday versus SFA and later against St. Bonaventure at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, the team closes out the tourney with a single game against East Texas A&M at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN+. Friday's and Saturday's games will be streamed through lionathletics.com as live stat and video links can be found at the tourney central link page above.
TSU was picked to finish second in the SWAC West while sophomore pitcher/DH Kylie Wilson and senior outfielder Lanay Carr earned All-SWAC Preseason First Team honors. Junior catcher Karisma Garcia and senior second baseman Destiny Menchaca both earned preseason second team honors.
